Social Hangout #24: entering black cultural spaces

Rendez-vous ce jeudi 5 février à 19h pour une table ronde à l'occasion du Mois de l'histoire des noirs. Que signifie être invité dans une culture ? Comment faire preuve de reconnaissance des cultures jazz et blues comme cultures afro-diasporiques ? Comment établir des lieux culturels connectés et dédiés à leurs communautés d'origine ? Venez en discuter avec nous dans le cadre de cette table ronde en présence d'invités spéciaux prochainement annoncés. Ouvert à toustes ; contribution volontaire appréciée. L'activité commencera à 19h mais vous pouvez venir pratiquer ou manger dans nos locaux avant ! À propos des Social Hangout : tous les jeudis, Hélène vous propose de partager un moment chaleureux pour échanger sur les aspects culturels des danses afro-descendantes en compagnie de personnes invitées et membres de la communauté. Chaque semaine, nous ouvrirons cet espace pour partager nos connaissances sur la culture du jazz, renforcer la compréhension de nos danses, socialiser entre pairs et développer un meilleur sentiment d'appartenance à la Communauté Cat's Corner. Visionnage de clips et de films, conversations ouvertes, potluck et friperie, pratiques ouvertes et jams de danse : l'hiver sera doux chez Cat's Corner. *** Join us this Thursday, February 5th, at 7PM for a roundtable discussion in honor of Black History Month. What does it mean to be a guest in the culture? How can we recognize jazz and blues as Afro-diasporic cultures? How can we establish cultural spaces that are connected to and dedicated to their communities of origin? Come have a talk with us at this roundtable discussion with special guests to be announced soon. Open to all; pay what you can. The activity will start at 7PM, but you are welcome to come and practice or eat on site before then! About Social Hangouts: every Thursday, Hélène invites you to share a warm moment of exchange on the cultural aspects of Afro-descendant dances with guests and members of the community. Each week, we'll open this space to share our knowledge of jazz culture, strengthen understanding of our dances, socialize with peers and develop a greater sense of belonging to the Cat's Corner Community. Video and film screenings, open conversations, potluck and clothes swap, open practices and dance jams: it's going to be a sweet winter at Cat's Corner.
