About this Event
Build your authentic Jazz dance vocabulary with the Shim Sham! A must-have Solo Jazz pattern.
Saturday 17th August at 2pm to 4.30pm.
350k.
Originally a Tap Dance routine with its roots in the late 20s, the Shim Sham has become the best-known routine in the Swing scene, thanks to Frankie Manning, who introduced his special version at the New York's Swing Dance Society, in the mid-80s.
First performed on stage in Harlem, in the early 30s, as a closing routine, the Shim Sham Shimmy was danced by all of the performers, singers, musician and dancers at the end of the show. The audience was joining too, of course!
A few years later, some Lindy Hoppers did the Shim Sham as a group line dance and with no Tap Dance and from here, it becomes the routine we all love!
