About the workshop: What sustains the architecture, the structure of our body when we are standing?
We will explore and play with our awareness of gravity and the respiratory gesture, so that weight and breath are a constant in our state of awareness, between the voluntary and involuntary, movement and stillness.
Through a variety of exercises games, and dynamics - integrating technical, somatic, and improvisational tools - we open up different paths and layers of attention and creation. We will create scores through different tools that help us explore sensations such as raising, withdrawing, pushing, depositing, yielding, opposing, resisting, following, supporting.
Developing a research framework where we can put into practice the basic principles of contact in relation to the material that we are using in the different phases of the workshop.
Emerging questions from the body-mind relationship and the ability to integrate learning through sensory and compositional perception will be addressed.
SOMA & Play, as a collective of artists and movement researchers, we share practices that allow us to reflect on and explore composition, as a creative and organic process that occurs inside and outside of us, and that is complemented by decomposition, recomposition and the ability to co-position and reposition ourselves in relation to the environment or a specific context. Paying attention and playing on what the environment suggests and reveals to the body.
