Son is a traditional Cuban partner dance, originating in the eastern provinces of Cuba in the late 19th century. By the 1930s, it had become Cuba’s national rhythm and dance, blending West African, Hispanic, and local creole influences. Renowned for its elegance and sophistication, Son is danced contra-tiempo, with a slower, more refined style than contemporary salsa. 🌿🎶 In this series, you'll be guided through the fundamentals of Son Cubano, learning the signature contra-tiempo timing, clave patterns, and core Cuban musical concepts.
