Soul Roots Connection - Mardi Gras Special

Hey Second Liners, Jitterbugs, Vipers, Hep-cats n’em - Where y’at? Come join our krewe and get down to the sounds of the Big Easy. Music will feature plenty of Brass-Heavy Jazz, from old Dixieland to modern sounds of the city like the Dirty Dozen and Rebirth brass bands, and we’ll stir in plenty of great New Orleans Funk! We always bring a balance between jazz and blues, so we’ll throw some of Louisiana's finest swamp blues into the mix. Expect some contemporary sounds from further afield too - lately brass bands have been taking over everywhere. Brass-hop is a thing; the Hot 8 and Youngblood brass bands are touring the world… … TL;DR we’ll be playing wild music all night and feeling that carnival spirit! If you haven’t been to S.R.C. before, we play a mix of party music for lindy hoppers, blues dancers and anyone else who loves their African-American roots music. You don’t need to have been to a dance class, you’ve just got to be happy strutting your stuff. We may not have a band to follow (this year), but we can still dance like we’re in the parade! Did we mention strutting? That’s the Second Line style!
