** SOLD OUT ** Soul Roots Connection is back with a Mardi Gras event We’re picking up just where we left off in Feb 2020 (a memorable night…) Since then we’ve been digging out even more great music from the Big Easy. DJs will be: David "Papa Z" Zilkha DJ Sugarpusher DJ Reagan You can expect to hear a "gumbo" of Swing, Blues, RnB, Soul, 2nd Line Brass, and Carnival tunes. So whether you’re a Lindy Hopper, a Blues dancer or a Soul head, you can dress up like you’re hitting the Mardi Gras parade, join our krewe and get down to the funky brassy sounds of New Orleans 🎷🥁🎺 Also, we'll be cooking up a taste of Cajun cookin' in the Boardroom kitchen (don't be too late or you may find an empty pot...) Before Aretha and Otis defined a new era of Soul in the 60’s, threads of the genre ran through Swing, Blues, Gospel, RnB and Jazz. On dancefloors from lowly Juke Joints to fancy Harlem Ballrooms people got down to so many great sounds. There were a huge variety of dance styles, many (but not all) of which were danced with a partner. Today, some of those dances are still taught and practiced around the world. At S.R.C. we like to get down to ALL that good old music. Everyone is welcome to join us, enjoy the tunes and dance - whether you know some steps or have your own way of struttin'. We aim to be a space where we value everyone’s style and learn from each other - about the music, the movement, and the heritage 🖤
