We are excited to invite you to a special "SoulPlay Soiree" ~ a live music event hosted by SoulPlay taking place on Saturday, January 6th in Oakland! Dance your way into 2024 with an electrifying celebration with your favorite community at the historic Sweet’s Ballroom in Oakland with this special benefit performance by DIRTWIRE and ALIA, plus special guest. Woven into each is the exploration of where live instruments meet computer production, and where tradition meets experimentation. Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. 🔸 ALIA 🔸 (https://www.aliafrequency.com/) ALIA is an acclaimed Electronic Music Producer, and DJ from the San Francisco Bay Area, bringing her special blend of global bass music to dance hubs around the world. ALIA is a resident DJ and a crowd favorite for Ecstatic Dance in the Bay Area and she tours regularly supporting the ecstatic global movement and bringing her unique healing dance journeys to ecstatic dance floors on many continents around the globe. ALIA has released two Feminine Medicine™ albums in a series of original albums and produced stage shows that bring more feminine voices to the dance floor. This married couple Leah and Joel fly their musical spaceship in between the ratchet and the spiritual. Their live sets are an energetic and immersive experience of meditation and straight up shaking that ass with electronics and live instrumentation. 🔸Emma Lucia 🔸 (https://www.instagram.com/emmaluciamusic/) Hailing from both Sweden and California, Emma Lucia creates intimate and haunting songs and vocals with roots in each culture, with production ranging from moody folk to experiential sound scapes, to beat driven epics. A SILENT AUCTION will also be held to support SoulPlay's recovery from the theft of our inventory trailer. You'll have the chance to bid on some amazing items and support our recovery at the same time!
