Special Buttonwood Friday Night Milonga - Two Artists. One Canvas. One Milonga - Lesson at 8 PM

At this Friday’s milonga, two artists from our tango community - Alessandra Stradella and Charles Cushing - will unveil a new large-scale collaborative painting inspired by the beauty, mystery, movement, and atmosphere of the Argentine tango milonga. What makes the piece especially unusual is the meeting of two radically different artistic styles. One artist works in bold abstraction; the other in richly observed scenes, portraits, landscapes, and tango imagery. Over weeks of collaboration, they alternated control of the canvas - responding to, transforming, and sometimes partially painting over each other’s work - until the painting became something neither could have created alone. The result is raw, layered, vibrant, and deeply tango. The image posted here is only a small detail from the larger painting, which will make its first full appearance Friday night. We’ll also have special food offerings throughout the evening, along with door prizes featuring original artwork and prints from both artists. An evening of tango, art, music, conversation, and a little mystery. Come dance, gather, eat a little, and help us unveil something unique together.
