SSB Blues Dance Party with John Long!

Our next blues dance party will be with live music from the delta blues master John Long! You can only find SSB at Denver's one and only Mercury Cafe (in the upstairs ballroom)! Come for good music, good dancing, and good people! Doors open at 6:30pm. Free street parking or adjacent lots starting at only $3. There will be a beginner-friendly blues dance lesson from 7-8pm. A dance party with live music from the band and DJ'ed band breaks will follow from 8-12. 7-8pm: All levels blues dance class Instructors: Kat and Amos Rose Class Description: Delta Blues is one of the earliest-known styles of blues, originating in the Mississippi delta. Sparse, acoustic arrangements, prominently featured finger-picked and slide guitar, as well as raw, hard hitting vocals makes this music distinctive and evocative. In this class we’ll explore how to move together to these distinctive, sparse sounds by using solo movement, partnered floor craft, and rhythmic collaboration to create dynamic and exciting dances. 8:30-11:30: John Long (live blues band!) DJ: Amos Rose (band breaks) Admission: $15- class only ($10 student discount with ID) $20- dance only ($15 student discount with ID) $30- class and dance ($25 student discount with ID) The dance is indoors, NO RESTRICTIONS: vaccine and mask optional.
