About this Event

We’ve got a new location for the rest of the summer — Zev has generously helped us book Koret Pavilion so we can enjoy a bigger space and have our lessons closer together, please thank him when he is back and also help us be good guests! Koret is the building behind the main Hillel space, enter via the side of the building facing away from Campus Drive. Parking in the Tressider Lot is free in the evenings if you’re coming from off campus. Lots of fun in store — looking forward to seeing folks! As always — bring water, and dress to move! No need for a dance partner, we rotate in class! Please remember that all of our classes are quarter-long progressive series, so you will get the most out of them by attending every week, and we strongly encourage you to do so. Subsequent classes will assume that you have attended previous classes, so you may be at a disadvantage if you do not regularly attend. That said, we understand that folks travel over the summer, so if you have to miss a week or two here or there, don’t worry too much — you’re still welcome to attend, just with those caveats! SSD Tuesday July 1: NEW LOCATION — Koret Pavilion for ALL CLASSES AND SOCIAL! 7p-8p Explorations and Fast Dance Explorations: Groundedness (intermediate/beginner+ Lindy Hop) with Bella and Maiya will focus this week on the principle of groundedness with some new exercises and vocab. Fast Dance: Shag II with Katie and Lillian will build on last week’s introduction to Collegiate Shag! Don’t forget that this dance involves close embrace — please pay extra attention to hygiene before you come :) 8p-9p Foundations and Vernacular Jazz Foundations: Making Shapes (beginner Lindy Hop) with Bella and Jacqueline will introduce new vocabulary and shapes, building on last week’s content. Drop In Beginner — If you are new to Lindy, and missed last week, Z will help you get up to speed! You’ll start with the Foundations class for warm ups, and then work with Z to get you up to speed to join Foundations next week! Vernacular Jazz: Making Four Max is out of town, so Maiya will be filling in — we’ll work through some fundamental patterns and frameworks and vocabulary for solo improvisation using routines we know and love as a basis to play around! 9p-10:30 Social Dancing! Join us for fantastic DJed dancing featuring all of your fave solo jazz routines and the occasional Jam!
