Stokie's Alt Tango Weekender

*That's it, sold out folks. If you're in, you're in. If you're not in, maybe we'll see you at the next one* Stokie's Alt Tango is now in it's eighth year of monthly milongas! And it's with that wealth of knowledge and experience that Stokie's are delighted to bring to you our BRAND NEW weekend of dance - Stokie's Alt Tango Weekender! A full weekend dedicated to nothing but the very best in Alternative Tango. Expect top tuition through the day, great food, comfortable rooms, and fantastic DJs through the evening into the wee small hours. Stokie's will throw open the doors on Friday and we'll be dancing, socialising and learning right through until Sunday. --- At Stokie's Alt Tango Weekender there will be two SEPARATE learning streams: ▓1.▓FAST TRACK TANGO▓▓ A Fast Track into Tango for people who have little or no Tango experience (generally less than 12 months). The Fast Track classes will allow you to join in the freestyle dancing in the evenings, and by the end of the weekend your Tango will be coming along leaps and bounds - places for the Fast Track stream of classes are strictly limited and balanced (lead/follow) for maximum learning potential. ▓2.▓TANGO COMPETENTE▓▓ Running alongside the Fast Track stream will be the more advanced learning stream for more proficient Tango dancers. Stokie's are delighted to announce that Biljana Lipic will be joining us. She's Stokie's favorite tango pro, and also a body movement specialist and shaman! Biljana will help to bring out the very best in your Tango, maybe she'll even get you to see Tango from a whole new perspective! Places for the Tango Competente stream of classes are being balanced (lead/follow) for maximum learning potential. --- ▓▓ALT TANGO MUSIC▓▓ Many people love dancing Tango to non-traditional Tango music. At Stokie's we feel that any music that isn't traditional Tango music is an 'alternative' to what you would hear at a traditional milonga. The music played at the weekender will be world music, nuevo, electro and modern Tango, all structured with you as a Tango dancer in mind. There will be no tandas, no cortinas, just a huge variety of superb music that will inspire you to dance. If you also adore traditional Tango music, Stokie's has a Tango & Blues weekender planned for later in the year too! --- ▓▓THE MILONGAS▓▓ Every evening there will be a top quality Alt Tango milonga through to the wee small hours. These milongas will consist of some of the country's most experienced Alt Tango DJs playing incredible music for you to dance to, on one of the very best dance-floors in Europe. --- ▓▓THE HOTEL▓▓ This weekender is FULL BOARD! It takes place in the intimate environment of a friendly small hotel in the East Midlands. Due to the layout of the hotel you can arrive on Friday and stay in your dance shoes until Sunday - perfect. The hotel has really friendly staff and has recently been extensively updated. It benefits from an excellent chef, with food being prepared on-site, meaning the hotel is able to accommodate most special diary requirements (please notify Stokie's in advance). Kegworth Hotel is about two miles from East Midlands Parkway railway station, it's also on a 24 hour bus route with easy access from Nottingham and Derby! Finally it's only three miles from East Midlands International Airport! Kegworth Hotel is very well located, however you choose to travel. --- ▓▓BOOKING▓▓ Places currently available for leads, and balanced lead/follow couples. The cost of this full board weekender is £260 per person - or £230 if booked within six weeks of the event*. As all of Stokie's events are gender neutral, we will book you onto this weekend as a lead or follow rather than a male or female. --- ▓▓FINALLY▓▓ This weekender is planned to be a fully immersive experience for the dancers who attend - to ensure that this is the case ONLY residential passes will be issued for this event.
