About this Event
How about something a little different? Bobby White presents STOMP HOUSE, an intimate party focusing on great swing music of all tempos, along with some other incredible dance music thrown in, like Afro-Cuban, Soul, BeBop, and Waltzes. The party also strongly encourages switch-dancing, individual dancing, and jams. Swing: the way grandma used to make it.
Pricing: $15
Vaccinations are strongly encouraged. Masks are optional.
Please keep your receipt handy as it contains the building door code in case you get locked outside.

Please read over these to help prepare you for Stomp House!
Acknowledgement:
Lindy Hop, Charleston, Big Apple, and Individualized Jazz Dances are Black American art forms developed primarily by the Black Americans. And Balboa, Shag, and Bal-Swing, though they were developed by a wide variety of people, are still fundamentally based on Black American artistic music and values.
Tonight you may hear some Blues, Soul, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Waltzes --- don't worry if you don't know any steps, we encourage you to just get up and move!
Safe Spaces:
If something happens that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, you can tell anyone manning the desk or Bobby White (host), and we will respect all of your desires for confidentiality.
Please ask people to dance using these specific terms:
"Would you like to lead one?"
"Would you like to follow one"
"Would you like to do a switch" (That's where dancers switch between leading and following.)
We ask you to challenge yourself to ask people of all body types, ages, and levels to dance.
If you see someone solo dancing, you may join in solo dancing near them, but please do not ask them to partner dance; wait for them to ask you.
Please accept "No, thank you," as a perfectly legitimate answer that requires no further explanation. Please be courteous in both refusing dances, and being refused.
Please give and accept any critiques regarding comfort. Otherwise, please refrain from giving anyone technique or aesthetic feedback.
Enjoy watching people dance, and feel free to yell encouraging things at them. (Please don't yell discouraging things.)
You are welcome to bring your own refreshments, we just ask that you please take out any bottles or cans you bring in.
Jams:
We strongly encourage jamming, to all types of tempos and music. Everyone and anyone's welcome to enter all jams. Be considerate of jamming time and space while you're out there.
If you want a jam to break out... start clapping.
Unsupported Air Steps (flips, throws, any steps where one person is in free flight) are only allowed in jams, and by well-rehearsed partnerships.
Floorcraft:
As we are in a tight space, please be very mindful of people around you. Acknowledge it if you clash.
Do not take your partners off their weight (as in dramatic dips) without asking them first.
If you slip up and forget some of these expectations, as long as nobody gets hurt, no worries. Just try to do better next time!
