Celebrating a new Sun Cycle The summer solstice, also known as midsummer, is the day when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky and has the longest period of daylight. Many cultures give Fire powerful symbolism, from the first light in creation stories, to our inner fire of divinity, passion and power. It is a creation, destruction and transformational energy. Please join us for the Northey Street City Farm Summer Solstice. There is still so much transformational energy needed to address the climate crisis and for us all to live in peace and harmony with each other. First Nations welcome and story telling by Derek Sandy, who shares much wisdom on the sustainable practices of local First Nations people. The Summer Solstice Ceremony will celebrate the cycling of the sun and the changing seasons. This will be followed by a drumming circle - bring your drums, percussion instruments, and full hearts to play together. The ceremony will be followed by a fire performance by Tina Twirls and her crew. Ecstatic Dance Brisbane will end the evening with a cacao ceremony and an opportunity to dance to a fusion of world music, electronica and tribal house. Mystery Music Performer will be announced soon! In the Nursery, Mia Swainson will launch her book Happy Planet Living with so many great ideas for how to live more sustainably. The Summer Solstice Night Market will see loads of artists, healers and ethical makers to assist you in your health journey and commitment to a sustainable lifestyle. With Christmas around the corner, we hope you choose to buy ethical gifts for your loved ones from our night market. The City Farm Nursery will be open and will be offering discounts on the night. What better gift to give than a living plant! Our Waste Free Organic Street Food Market will be set in Brisbane’s much loved Northey Street City Farm. You will be able to eat locally sourced organic food with plenty of vegan and gluten free options, including some of the finest tasting raw food desserts and gelato you can imagine. Organic juices, smoothies, and refreshing drinks will be on offer, including beer, cider and kombucha on tap. Our delicious street food will be served on crockery. Bring your friends and family to help us celebrate the Summer Solstice with this end of year party.
