Ecstatic Dance is a growing art form around the world designed for individual expression and community connection. Its a non-judgemental space so everyone usually feels relaxed and free to be themselves. Your free spirit loves to dance and you're invited to join in freeform movement arts, meditation, good vibes, artistic musical scores, nonverbal sacred space, creativity and exploration. We intend EDE to be welcoming, meditative, fun, and liberating for all. Each event welcomes all experience levels and newcomers, is multicultural, multi-gender, intergenerational, and family friendly. This Sunday Dance theme is WINDS OF CHANGE by Ivan Daniel Espinosa of Seattle Washington! "There is an ancient Chinese proverb that goes: “When the wind of change blows, some people build walls, others build windmills.” Change can sometimes cause us to become frightened. We may think staying with the same course is a good idea, even when a more fruitful or favorable alternative awaits us. Ecstatic Dance Evolution has taught me to accept and to appreciate change. Dance Evolution gives us the opportunity to explore new realms: getting to know our bodies in new ways and discover new ways we dance with ourselves and others. The music is constantly changing and shifting, again and again. The widely varied, multi-cultural music connects us with other perspectives and new forms of expression, which helps us to re-evaluate our habits of posture and communication. Dance Evolution reminds me to practice dropping judgements, releasing inhibitions, letting go of resistance to change, and going with the flow. Every dance is an opportunity to explore new territory with our self and with others, through an intentional movement journey that opens the doors to heightened levels of feeling, expression and discovery. This Sunday, as we gather for our very last ecstatic dance at MATCH, I invite you to bring this awareness of change more keenly into your dance. What inhibitions and patterns are we ready to release, to make room for change and evolution? Let's give it a try, together. Let's be adventurous. Even if it feels edgy, we can discover newness and change in our own bodies, in our hearts, and with one another."
