Christie (usually found in her mud loving goblin form at local dances and festivals) is also a clinical herbalist, respiratory therapist, costume maker, strange performance artist and facilitator of feral playshops, interactive myth weaving ,and self care for spoonies workshops. Please be kind (of weird) with this creature. 🔥This week’s warm-up is meant to unbury and unchasten and embrace parts that may have been labeled too much or not enough. To give those parts a place to move, interact, be witnessed and to be coaxed back into our lives embracing the richness of unfettered play for our inner wild, mythical, monstrous, and imaginative creatures. ⭐The theme of this dance is the dance of self and other. Christie will be encouraging the option of family friendly contact improv and play, and also encouraging people to feel into themselves, release what other people might think, and really get into their bodies. ⭐Nothing is mandatory. All partnered and small group activities are optional. Options will be offered for those who do not want to participate in partner or group work. You are always welcome to stay in your own experience and move in whatever way feels right for you. 🎧 DJ Leading Our Dance Journey: DJ Indigo Indigo is a DJ who trusts in the body’s wisdom to move through emotions and release them. As a psychotherapist, she finds ways of weaving self-regulating wisdom into her sets. Dance is therapy, dance is devotion. Indigo loves all musical genres, but favors deep bass beats that encourage primal movement, and support grooving through stuck places in the body. Do not miss DJ Indigo’s beats. She will be guiding the dance journey with deep, embodied sound that invites release, expression, and full body movement. Ecstatic Dance as we know it began in the year 2000, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Little did we know that this would inspire a movement, a culture, and a community, that would spread across the world. ✨️Dance with us on Sunday mornings in gratitude for being alive. Sunday has long been seen as a day to celebrate the Divine! We tap into that in a non-dogmatic way. A space for unity, community & connection to something larger than ourselves. Event Organizers: Boombox Ben (Ben Selin) Boombox Ben is an event organizer in Philadelphia. He came to Ecstatic Dance in 2023 and it has massively changed his life since then. Ben has been called to organize community events and share the joy that dancing has brought him. Veronica Carpenter of Blissful Butterfly Yoga Veronica is a yoga therapist and self-love cheerleader with over 20 years of experience supporting children and adults in mental health and caregiving. Rooted in her own healing journey, she helps humans reconnect to themselves through practical, playful practices. She began practicing ecstatic dance in 2021 and found so much joy and nourishment in a Sunday morning practice, and so here we are. Yoga helped her feel safe in her body, ecstatic dance helped her feel free. She now helps organize events to share that experience with others.
