Rooted in her recovery from developmental trauma, she helps humans heal their relationship with themselves through practical, playful practices. With a background in psychology and comprehensive yoga therapy and over 20 years supporting children in mental health and caregiving, she works with both children and adults, guiding people of all ages back to loving kindness, compassion, curiosity, and play. Her work blends breath, somatic movement, and mindfulness in beginner-friendly, trauma-informed spaces where all of you is welcome, even the messy bits, inviting you to embrace your most authentic self. This week’s warm-up will be Intuitive Yoga, meant to help you come home to your body and awaken your natural flow before the dance begins and will naturally invite your inner child out to play. This warm-up adapts to who shows up. Veronica will check in with everyone’s experience level, needs, and how they’re feeling, then intuitively guide the group with chill tunes, grounding, breathwork, intention setting, accessible movement, playful freedom, and relaxation. This is a space to reconnect with yourself and claim sovereignty over your own body. People already know how to get into their bodies and warm themselves up for a dance. Veronica helps create the conditions for that remembering, offering guidance and support where needed, especially for those newer to yoga or ecstatic dance. As a conduit of Divine Source, she weaves in spiritual inspiration and trusts what is needed in the moment will come through. Nothing is mandatory. You are always welcome to stay in your own experience and move in whatever way feels right for you. The theme of this dance is curiosity, playfulness, and lightheartedness, and both Veronica and Ben embody these qualities in their own lives and bring them to the community as medicine. 🎧 DJ Leading Our Dance Journey: Boombox Ben Boombox Ben began his DJ journey through life-expanding experiences at Burning Man. Bringing playa-dust-infused joy, high-energy tech house, and eclectic beats to the Philly dance community and beyond, his sets are playful, embodied, and alive. As a father, yoga teacher, community builder, and dancefloor enthusiast, Ben is passionate about creating family-friendly spaces where people of all ages feel welcome. His dance journeys encourage freedom, expression, connection, and the playful spirit that lives within each of us. Expect uplifting energy, moments of wonder, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with your inner child while moving your body. Ben crafts dance floors that invite people fully into their bodies while remembering that joy, play, and connection can be deeply supportive to healing. Ecstatic Dance as we know it began in the year 2000, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Little did we know that this would inspire a movement, a culture, and a community, that would spread across the world. ✨️Dance with us on Sunday mornings in gratitude for being alive. Sunday has long been seen as a day to celebrate the Divine! We tap into that in a non-dogmatic way. A space for unity, community & connection to something larger than ourselves. Event Organizers: Boombox Ben (Ben Selin) Boombox Ben is an event organizer in Philadelphia. He came to Ecstatic Dance in 2023 and it has massively changed his life since then. Ben has been called to organize community events and share the joy that dancing has brought him. Veronica Carpenter of Blissful Butterfly Yoga Veronica began practicing ecstatic dance in 2021. Yoga helped her feel safe in her body, ecstatic dance helped her feel free. She found so much joy and nourishment in a Sunday morning practice, when Ecstatic Dance Philly went on summer break she and Ben didn't want to see them go so here we are. She now helps organize events to share that experience with others.
