Sunday School Musicality Special - 24 March 2013 @ La Boheme, Leeds **PLEASE READ THE PROGRAMME BELOW, AS WE HAVE MADE QUITE A FEW CHANGES AND HAVE ADDED AN EXTRA HOUR OF TEACHING...and now all 5 hours for £20!!!** This week we have a fantastic, participative/interactive Musicality Workshop with George, Adam and Vicki!!...Read on... They will explore Salsa music by looking at the construction of a salsa tune and how the instruments work together within it...and how dancers can utilise this knowledge/awareness on the dance-floor. They will be bringing instruments...but if you all have any, then feel free to bring them too!!!... This workshop is a must for all dancers and lovers of Salsa music!!...It's gonna be Ab Fab...as well as fun...and...extremely informative!!! Please feel free to come with a list of 2 or 3 of your favourite salsa songs or PM (private nessage) George (Dr Salsa) in advance, so we can relate the session back to the songs that YOU like! (see Dr Salsa’s message below for more details of the Musicality workshop)... Also...we have A beginners/Improvers workshop too!!! Your Headmaster, Nicolai ****************************************************** MUSICALITY WORKSHOP We will be approaching the music from a basic level, without deep dives into jargon! It will NOT be over complicated or over serious! The first goal is to give you an insight into the 'language' being used in the music you hear in a salsa club, so you can start to train your ear! The second goal is to start you thinking about how you are going to use that knowledge in your dancing Part 1 - Basic Rhythms 'Play Along' - Clave, Conga, Cowbell, Bass, etc. What beats do they commonly fall on? How does that help? Part 2 - Common structure of a Salsa Song - The 5 basic parts and listening for clues on when the song is going to change! Part 3 - How can I use all this stuff in my dancing? - We'll explain some ideas on how you can start to play with the music, in your dancing, once you've learnt some of it's language! We will have suggestions for the girls and for the boys... HOMEWORK FOR THOSE TAKING PART!!!!
