Swing Dance and photo day with live music by the Alpha Rhythm Kings

Wednesday Night Hop will be hosting a masked and vaxxed swing dance with live music by the Alpha Rhythm Kings with four month-long progressive class series and a free drop-in beginner class. We will also have professional photographer Aurelia Santos taking pictures tonight! Feel free to dress up or down to however you’d like to look in this batch of Wednesday Night Hop photos. If you’d prefer not to be the subject of photos tonight, we will have markers that you can wear to inform Aurelia that you’d rather not be the direct subject of any pictures — you may still appear in the background of photos, though! No partner or prior dance experience required. Established in 2017, the Alpha Rhythm Kings have created quite a stir with music fans, having crafted an exciting, King Size California sound, with what Roots Music Magazine No Depression calls "the badge of authenticity". The band's top quality musicians, with Robert Dehlinger's “exhilarating” trumpet and "magnetic" singing (Jazz Corner) leading the way, are a favorite with swing dancers, as well as with audiences in nightclubs, festivals and concert halls. Schedule: 7:05pm - 8:05pm - Journey Series - Performance Series 8:15pm - 9:15pm - Small Groups Series - Beginners Series - Free Drop-In Swing Dance Fundamentals Class 9:20pm - 9:35pm: free 15 minute Shim Sham lesson 9:30pm - 11:30pm: Dance Party with live music by the Alpha Rhythm Kings This event is only open to people who are vaccinated with their second dose or booster received before May 16th, 2023. You must show proof of vaccination at the door. (e.g. https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov) All attendees will be required to wear a mask and follow the direction of the staff when it comes to wearing a mask. Note that we do not allow drop-ins for our series classes, but we welcome drop-ins for our free swing dance fundamentals classes! Wednesday Night Hop reserves the right to cancel or change date/time of the event. In the event of a cancellation, tickets will be refunded. -------------------------- As a reminder, we have changed our requirements regarding masks and vaccinations. Please read carefully to make sure they work for you. Masks: - We are still requiring masks except when drinking water. - We are allowing surgical masks, but not cloth masks. - We will still encourage N95 masks and continue to provide them for free at the front desk, but they will not be required. Vaccinations: - We will no longer be restricting vaccinations to QR codes. We will now accept vaccination cards. - We will continue to check ID at the door. - We are no longer restricting vaccinations to Pfizer and Moderna; as long as the person is fully vaccinated and they got their last dose two-weeks prior to the dance.
