Registration to all courses is now open! 🌱 We recommend you start with one of our beginner courses in Lindy Hop, called “Lindy Hop 1” – it’s the best introduction to the swing dancing world. All Lindy Hop 1 courses have the same material. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 You don’t have to sign up with a partner – we rotate partners in class (couples can choose to stay together). What is Swing Dancing? “Swing Dance” is a group of African-American dances set to swing music and other old school Jazz styles from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. The Swing family includes many different dances from the above period, like Solo Jazz, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, Tap and the most popular of them all: The Lindy Hop – also originally known as the Jitterbug in Europe. These are all dances created by African-Americans, where rhythm and improvisation is at the core, and where being social through dancing together is central to all of them. The most popular of the swingin’ partner dances is called Lindy Hop and our beginner’s course called Swing 1 is a great way to begin your Lindy Hop adventure. You can also try the Collegiate Shag dance (a fast-paced and energetic "little sister" of Lindy Hop). If you would like to dance without a partner, then come join one of our solo courses. You can choose between two great dances: Solo Jazz and Tap Dancing.
