Swing Dance Lessons beginner-friendly

Join the Iowa City Swing Dance club for Thursday lessons! You don't need any dance experience or a partner to take the beginner lesson at 7 p.m. This series starts on March 5 and ends on March 26. We recommend attending the entire 4-lesson series because concepts and moves will build on each other throughout each lesson. However, drop-ins are welcome anytime, with the understanding that they may not get the most out of the lesson, having missed prior lessons in the series. ... Level 1 will be beginner-friendly and give experienced dancers new concepts and moves in 6-count rhythm. Level 2 will be teaching tips, techniques, and moves for fast dancing. ... WHAT TO BRING: - Comfy shoes/sneakers to change into for the class. We ask that you don't wear your outdoor shoes onto the dance floor. Leave the winter snow/mud/salt in the entryway! - A water bottle. - An open mind to learn and express yourself through music and movement. - Respect and kindness for other dancers. ... THURSDAY SCHEDULE: Beginner Lesson | 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. Social Dance & Practice (all levels) | 7:45 - 8:15 p.m. Level 2 Lesson | 8:15 - 9:15 p.m. ... VENUE: Masonic Lodge. This is down the street from the Iowa City Public Library. There is free parking in the Chauncey parking ramp after 6 p.m. ... COST: $10 per evening or $5 for students.
