Swing DJ Relay August 2022: Swingin' The Blues

Join us for our latest edition of Swing DJ Relay and come nerd out on jazz history, swing dancing and play some great tunes with DJs all over the world! We are excited to have two amazing dancers, DJs and humans as our Spotlight DJs - Daniel Repsch and Grey Armstrong! We will kick things off with an open set where anyone can call dibs to play tunes - no required theme, just justify why your song is a good follow-up to the one that was played before. If you are a newer DJ we would love to hear your favourite tunes! Then we'll have our Spotlight DJs trade tunes for 30 to 40 minutes with a focus on our theme of highlighting Blues music and Blues inspired Swing music, sharing some insight about how they create the flow of their set and what qualities they are looking for in their music. And finally we'll have our themed set, where we continue from where out Spotlight DJs left off in the prior session by building a playlist together based on our theme! This event is designed to be beginner friendly, educational, and most importantly fun for everyone involved - step in the virtual DJ booth and share your favourite swing songs with our international DJ community! Priority on who gets to play a song will be determined as follows: 1. Top priority goes to the person who has not yet had the opportunity to share a song during the event. 2. If there are multiple people who fit this criteria, the tiebreaker will be the time stamp of the Chat message. 3. If there are multiple people who have already DJed during the event, priority goes to the person who DJed “longer” ago. Zoom link will be posted 15 min before the event.
