Swing DJ Relay: Spotlight on Swing Arrangers

Join us for our latest edition of Swing DJ Relay and come nerd out on jazz history, dancing and play some great tunes with DJs all over the world! We are looking forward to welcoming one of of regulars, Luke McKenty as a Spotlight DJ this month! We kick things off with our Spotlight DJ playing some great tunes for 30 to 40 minutes with a focus on our theme of Swing Arrangers. We are excited to learn about various arrangers of Swing era, but with a specific focus on Chappie Willet. We then have our Relay set where we play a game of musical tag going from one song to the other based on some connection for about an hour. We encourage everyone to have a connection to our theme of the month, if possible. If not, any kind of connection from song to song will do. We are adapting this change to be more accessible to all the budding DJs out there, not just the experienced ones. This event is designed to be beginner friendly, educational, and most importantly fun for everyone involved - step in the virtual DJ booth and share your favourite swing songs with our international DJ community! We are even happy to play a song for you if you don't have your music on you. Priority on who gets to play a song will be determined as follows: 1. Top priority goes to the person who has not yet had the opportunity to share a song during the event. 2. If there are multiple people who fit this criteria, the tiebreaker will be the time stamp of the Chat message. 3. If there are multiple people who have already DJed during the event, priority goes to the person who DJed “longer” ago. Zoom link will be posted 15 min before the event.
