Led by Gordon Au, an impeccably trained trumpeter with an antiquarian ear, the Grand St. Stompers have become A PILLAR OF NEW YORK’S HOT JAZZ SCENE. — Nate Chinen, The New York Times WORKSHOPS 6:30PM (55min) – SWING WORKSHOP | EXPLORING BALBOA (Adv Basics and up) Location: Auditorium L2 Description: Dive into a great style of swing that keeps your feet moving while keeping a steady and balanced body position throughout. Great for those medium and faster tempos. It was created in Balboa Island California and has spread like wildfire across the world over the past 2 decades. Instructors: YURINA SHIN & PAOLO 7:30PM (55min) LINDY HOP WORKSHOP | SLIDES Level: Int + Location: 4th Floor Description: We’ll explore some of the beautiful Lindy Hop slides done on the dance floors of the old days and the new, for both leaders and followers. Wear shoes that slide easily: leather or suede-soled shoes, or shoes with slippery bottoms like Tai Chi shoes. Or wool socks you don’t mind getting dirty. No sneakers! Instructor: BOBBY WHITE 7:45PM (30 min) BEGINNER SWING | Level: Beginner Open Location: Auditorium L2 This class is great if you’re new to swing or if you would like a refresher on partnering. You’ll learn techniques that will bring you up to speed with the crowd of swing dancers. This class is FREE with your General Admission ticket.
