Come join us for another night of Brazilian zouk & WCSwing! This time we'll have guest instructors Layssa & Arthur visiting all the way from Australia. They travel the world teaching Brazilian dances and will be here in DC just for that weekend. CLASSES: 7:00pm-7:45m Beginner Zouk & West Coast Swing Crash course for those new to these dances Brazilian Zouk with District Zouk WCSwing with Helen Chao 7:45pm-8pm Zouk/WCS Mixer Dancers from the beginner classes can practice Dancers coming for the workshop come and dance with the beginners 8:00-9:30pm Zouk Workshop with Layssa & Arthur Learn Brazilian zouk technique, patterns and connection from our guest instructors DANCING: 9:30pm-2:00am Zouk & WCS with DJ LOJYK (James Kong) & Chuky Most music will be danceable for both dances, so we'll keep you dancing all night COST: $20 Before 9:30pm (with the workshop/classes) $10 After 9:30pm LOCATION: Glen Echo Back Room Next to the Spanish Ballroom At Glen Echo Park (U.S. National Park Service) 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812 ABOUT LAYSSA & ARTHUR Layssa Liebscher, was born in Rio de Janeiro and at 14 years old she discovered her passion for classical ballet and jazz. She started learning Latin dance in 2007 and specialized in Brazilian zouk and samba de gafieira during her years as part of Renata Peçanha’s Dance Company in Brazil. Layssa has worked for Coca Cola in Brazil as a ballet dancer in parade called Parada Encantada Copacabana Rio de Janeiro in 2006. Layssa has travelled throughout the world to many different countries such as Holland, Belgium, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Russia, Prague, Germany, Finland and USA. Since 2012, she started her partnership with Arthur Liebscher. Together they moved to Adelaide – Australia where they started their Latin dance school called Layssa and Arthur Dance. Arthur Liebscher was born in Goiânia and at 14 years old discovered his dance passion at high school. Performer, Teacher and Choreographer, he started dancing Latin and Ballroom in 2007 and after 3 months was invited to made part of Sport Dance’s Company where he learned Brazilian zouk, salsa, samba de gafieira, bolero, tango, cha cha cha and forró. In December 2007 he did his first zouk workshop with Renata Peçanha in Goiânia and has never looked back. From 2007 till 2008, he went to study in Mexico where he started to teach Brazilian dances at Mundo Dance Academy. Back in Brazil he began teaching at the Goiania’s Sport Dance Academy. In 2012, he opened his own school, Arthur Liebscher Dance Studio in Goiânia.
