This movement session is a practice of deep listening through your senses, awakening dormant codes of somatic cognition and unfolding authentic expression. Breathing deeply and flowing freely~ Coming back Home within. . This dance floor will be a safe space to express your process to the outer worlds without needing words. If you desire to converse, please move your conversation to the astroturf foyer outside the door, or take a breather for fresh air outside. Keep voices to a respectable volume when on the street. . All expressions are indeed welcome; please feel empowered to laugh, cry, scream and shout. This is a sober space, to embody your emotions fully without reliance on use of substance. Clear mind, centered hearts. . We are propagating a consent-based culture: please tune in with clear yeses and no's when engaging with others on the dancefloor. This is a judgement free zone. Here is a space to embody what's moving within you. No cameras or footage allowed. One of our team may take photos of the dj to share for their own profiles, yet this isn't a space for recording others in their movement journeys. This is a space of presence and acceptance of all that is. . This will be a space to move to the beat of your heart, the rhythm of the depths of your being, and the spaces in-between sounds. Your movement is your authentic art, waiting to be poured out onto the canvas of space and time. . =Schedule= 6.45 - Doors open, welcome to come early to settle into the space 7pm - Opening Circle & Body Activation 7.15-8.45pm Music with Elkemist 8.45-9.15pm - Sound Bath with TBA 9.45pm - Closing Integration Circle 10-10pm - Integration mingle flow 10.15pm - Time to flow onwards & vacate the space =Music= ~Elkemist~ As a multi-instrumentalist/DJ and an active organiser/facilitator in the Nelson (BC) and Melbourne (Australia) conscious dance scenes, I first started curating sound journeys a few years ago. Since then, I have initiated a weekly dance journey in Nelson called Dance Wave, as well as co-created several community ceremonial gatherings. Beyond dance journeys, I've also played hybrid live tribal bass sets at intentional festivals around Canada and Australia including Shambhala, Wicked Woods, Chrysalis, Elevate, Tribe Ascension and The Secret Garden. My sets range from multi-genre dance journeys/ecstatic dances to downtempo and tribal bass sets rooted in mystical sounds and worldly flavours with the goal of cultivating collaboration, connection and healing for our ever expanding community. Their musical style ranges from folk, to RnB/Soul to HipHop with elements of Westcoast Bass/EDM. With a diverse background in music, a mix of classical training and self-teaching gives Kaya's music an undeniable sense of lived experience and fluency. Seeking to break beyond boundaries and give voice to marginalized peoples and groups they identify in, Kaya is more than meets the eye and has so much depth to share that is bound to strike chords in the heart of any listener. .
