For more than a decade Wise cut his teeth in San Francisco, DJing at parties like the legendary Afrolicious night and landmark venues like The Independent, Monarch and 1015 Folsom. He has played in many groups playing styles ranging from Turkish, Balkan, Cumbia, Brazilian, Salsa, Funk, and more. His pursuit for unique rhythms & melodies has led him to the jungles of Nicaragua and fabled islands lost in the Caribbean Sea. When he’s not making field recordings and playing in live groups, Wise releases music on imprints like Délicieuse Records, Lips & Rhythm and Mule Musiq. His dedication in the studio is unwavering and his original output often reflects a well-blended taste of global dance music, disco, boogie funk and house. Wise also plays live with a variety of instruments that he works into his energetic performances. His sets are best described as funky underground ethnomusicology courses with hypnotic grooves. In this one-hour class, Christopher will guide you through a beautiful Qigong form and a brief breathwork session to help you explore new ways of connecting with yourself and your surroundings. No previous experience needed, just bring yourself and your curious nature. ~About the class facilitator~ Christopher Villanella believes that love is the ultimate act of rebellion, seeing each individual as actively shaping the world with every moment and action. As a youth he left his home behind and traveled the country on the back of freight trains searching for adventure and deeper meaning. As an adult he found that adventure and deeper meaning through studying breathwork and Taoist alchemy. Fortunate to study under esteemed teachers, Christopher has enriched his understanding of these profound arts. He has found that by focusing our awareness on our breath and energy, we can unlock deeper layers of self-awareness and strengthen our connection with the world around us. His goal is to share these transformative tools to foster collective growth and healing. Christopher is a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor, Oxygen Advantage Master Instructor, and Breathwork Masterclass Instructor. He has studied the Taoist arts extensively, training with Michael WInn, Nathan Brine, and others.
