The class will be catered towards folx who are newer to dancing in contact with other bodies, while having insights that will inform many experience levels. ~About the class facilitator~ Merrick is a lover of movement, continuously in awe of the body and its potential for delightful expression, wild creativity, & authentic connection. Influenced by her practices of contact improvisation, figure skating, acroyoga, and hand-balancing, she guides playful movement experiences as an opportunity for deep listening, research, and co-creation. Merrick hosts contact every 2nd & 4th Wednesday evening at The Center SF. Her musical project is Aazav created with her partner Haj i Ji. Drawing inspiration from mystical traditions, nature's rhythms, and cosmic energies--Kai's DJ sets are a journey into realms of worldly organica, sensual bass, big boom, and astral wubs. Kai curates sets that invite dancers to connect with their bodies, spirits, and each other. Her intuitive approach to music creates a space where movement becomes a sacred rite, inviting trance-inducing travels.
