About this Event
As usual we will have
¡Té y Tango!
Sunday afternoon, February 16th, 2020
Our schedule for Tango on Sundays is working well and we will continue with that arrangement. It is a little early to get a read on the weather for this Sunday
but I’m optimistically assuming it will be bright and sunny!
We will be eager to see some of the beginner dancers of recent weeks return to resume building skills.
Once again, here’s how the Sunday program is now working:
· 2:00 – 3:00 PM
Shiwa will run a boot camp for beginner dancers. That session will be focused on review of past beginner lessons and perfecting a few elements or figures that will give you the confidence to get out on the floor and enjoy yourself dancing alongside, and most importantly, with more experienced dancers.
Dancers of all levels are encouraged to come at 2:00 and participate in this boot camp session. I find that there is always something to learn, even for experienced dancers and the assistance of more advanced dancers helps advance the beginners along more rapidly.
· 3:00 – 3:30 PM
Following the boot camp, there will be a short ½ hour lesson for experienced dancers introducing a new figure to add to your repertoire.
· 3:30 – 5:00 PM
We will wrap up the day’s session with an open and free-form practice opportunity or a practica. Not a milonga exactly, but helpful, fun, and interesting. Shiwa will be available throughout to help work on things that have been giving you problems. She is eager to help you become a better Milonguera/o.
Finally
Tango might be found anywhere. And in the spirit of dancing on the sidewalk, as in Buenos Aires,
here is a link to a video clip of Shiwa and Sonja dancing at the Orono Farmers Market last weekend! Might this become a regular thing?
Enjoy!
If you’ve found some music that you particularly enjoy, then please tell me about it. New music selections always energize a crowd of dancers.
Both events this week are held at
Noh Way School
170 Park Street
(upstairs above One Lupine, the fiber arts and gift shop)
Friday evening from 7:30 and again
Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 5:00 PM
Watch your Inbox and/or Facebook for weather updates for this week’s double program!
Remember, you don’t need to bring a partner and it’s free the first time you join us.
We always have snacks, conversation, great music (both contemporary and traditional Tango)
and you’ll have a chance to hang out with Bangor’s growing Tango community.
Shiwa or I will be happy to answer questions and provide directions to the studio if you need them.
