English below Taken by Surprise Jam di 6 giorni a CasinaSettarte, dal 2 all'8 settembre 2024 Una jam residenziale di 6 giorni a CasinaSettarte (Puglia, Italia) – ispirata dal desiderio di coltivare la curiosità e abbracciare la sorpresa, la danza e la vita stessa – in un luogo potente in mezzo alla natura nel sud Italia. Gli aspetti che ci teniamo a sottolineare sono: il contatto, l'improvvisazione, la curiosità, la disponibilità, il non sapere, sorprendere e lasciarsi sorprendere e sentire la danza espandersi nella vita. In altre parole: vorremmo coltivare e rivisitare alcune caratteristiche fondamentali della CI nei suoi primi anni – con gli occhi e le esperienze di oggi e attraverso la condivisione tra le generazioni più anziane e quelle più giovani. Vi aspettiamo per un momento gioioso di ricerca, gioco, danza che sfocerà in spontanei spettacoli serali. Allo stesso modo vorremmo dare spazio allo scambio e alla riflessione. Ci saranno 4 facilitatori che forniranno approcci diversi all'improvvisazione, alla pratica, alla consapevolezza corporea, alla somatica e alla consapevolezza, attingendo anche all'Underscore ideato da Nancy Stark Smith. Danzeremo al mattino, nel pomeriggio e dopo cena. Oltre una mgnifica pedana coperta di 200 m² immersa nella natura è possibile usare diversi spazi esterni molto suggestivi. Ci saranno delle lezioni di un'ora e mezza che confluiranno nelle Jam. E' prevista musica dal vivo. Ci sarà spazio per i partecipanti per condividere pratiche, esperienze, ricerche o domande. Approfittando del mare Adriatico molto vicino, trascorreremo una mattinata in spiaggia all'alba per godere del miracolo del nuovo giorno, fare un tuffo e ballare Le guide che supporteranno questo gioioso evento saranno Francesco Zita (Italia), Michele Marchesani (Italia), Nina Radovanovic (Serbia) e Beatrice Schumacher (Svizzera). FRANCESCO ZITA, insegnante di Tai Chi-Qigong e Contact Improvisation, terapista Cranio-sacrale biodinamico, mover e performer. Nei primi anni ’80 ha iniziato la sua formazione in improvvisazione teatrale, arti marziali (Aikido, Kung Fu), Yoga (Iyengar). Nel 1993 , insieme a Germana Siciliani, fonda CasinaSettarte, centro di residenze artistiche nell'ambito del movimento, nelle campagne della Valle dei Trulli in Puglia, BEATRICE SHUMACHER, storica ed esperta danzatrice di CI, ama e pratica anche l'improvvisazione e il Butoh, nel suo cammino verso la fusione degli aspetti corporei e intellettuali in un unico essere. Attualmente sta portando avanti un progetto di ricerca storico-antropologica sulla Contact Improvisation in Svizzera e nella Germania meridionale concentrandosi sulle esperienze dei danzatori e delle diverse culture CI. Vive a Basilea (CH), dove facilita anche una Score Jam. MICHELE MARCHESANI danzatore di Contact Improvisation, insegnante di Shiatsu, musicista e ricercatore del movimento. Nel 2003 sintetizza il “Tatto Interno”, tecnica corporea di movimento e percezione (www.tattointerno.com) di cui tiene corsi regolari e formazioni. Nel 2004 conosce la Contact Improvisation, che segue come allievo, organizzatore di eventi e negli ultimi anni come insegnante in Italia e in Europa. NINA RADOVANOVIC, danzatrice e yogini residente tra Serbia e Croazia, ha scoperto la sua passione per la contact improvisation in India 15 anni fa. Insegna CI, esplora la danza dell'acqua e contribuisce alle connessioni della comunità attraverso gli incontri MOVE2Collective e CECITE. Come co-fondatrice del Contact Improvisation Camp Croatia, Nina condivide anche le sue esperienze in festival e workshop internazionali. Aspects we would like to emphasize are: touch, improvisation, curiosity, availability, not knowing, surprising others and being open for surprises, and allowing the dance to expand into life. In other words: We would like to re-cultivate and re-visit some core features of Contact Improvisation in its early years with the eyes and experiences of today, sharing and harvesting between elder andyounger generations. We warmly invite you for a joyful time of research, play, dance. Evening performances might materialize too. Likewise, we will give space for exchange and reflection. There will be four facilitators providing different approaches to improvisation, bodily awareness, and mindfulness as well as to creative Jam strategies, such as the Underscore as it was developed by Nancy Stark Smith. We will dance in the morning, in the afternoon, and after dinner. Besides a wonderful covered dance-space of 200m2 embedded in nature, we can also use the inspiring outside spaces. Lessons will last 1,5 hours and lead into a Jam with live music. Besides facilitated lessons there will be space for participants to share practices, experiences, research or questions (e.g. in sharings or in lab form). Since the Adriatic Sea is very close we will spend one morning at the beach, taste the mystery of the rising day, have a dip and dance. The guides of this joyful event will be Francesco Zita (Italy), Michele Marchesani (Italy), Nina Radovanovic (Serbia) and Beatrice Schumacher (Switzerland). FRANCESCO ZITA is a Tai Chi-Qigong and Contact Improvisation teacher, Biodynmic cranio-sacral therapist, mover and performer. He began training in theatrical improvisation, martial arts (Aikido, Kung Fu), and Yoga (Iyengar) in the early Eighties. In 1993, together with Germana Sicilani he founded Casina Settarte, center for artistic residencies in the sphere of movement, in the territory of the Valley of Trulli in Apulia. MICHELE MARCHESANI isa Contact Improvisation dancer, Shiatsu teacher, musician and movement researcher. In 2003 he synthesized “Tatto Interno“ a body/mind technique of movement and perception ( www.tattointerno.com ) about which he conducts ongoing trainings.. He came to know Contact Improvisation in 2004 following it as a student, event organiser and in the last years as a teacher in Italy and wider Europe. NINA RADOVANOVIC is a dancer and yogini living in between Serbia and Croatia. She discovered her passion for Contact Improvisation in India 15 years ago. She teaches CI, explores water dance, and contributes to community networks through MOVE2Collective and CECITE. Nina shares her experiences at international festivals and workshops, and is a co-founder of Contact Improvisation Camp Croatia. BEATRICE SCHUMACHER is a historian and experienced CI dancer. She loves and practices Improvisation and Butoh, and is on her way to meld her bodily and intellectual sides into one being. Currently she’s conducting a historical-anthropological research project on Contact Improvisation in Switzerland and Southern-Germany, with focuses on the experiences of dancers and different CI cultures. She is based in Basel (CH), where she lives and facilitates a Score Jam. Practical aspects: Arrival: September 2, 5pm, start practice 7pm. Departure September 8, 10am. Lodging: different possibilities in tents, stone or wooden houses. Food: mostly vegetarian, will be provided by a cook and with cooperation of the participants.
