Join us for a unique tango dancing workshop led by master bandoneonista Carlos Quilici, designed to deepen your musicality and connection on the dancefloor. The session will begin with a journey into the heart of tango’s most iconic instrument: the bandoneon. Carlos will explore its origins, character, and the role it plays in shaping tango’s emotional and rhythmic landscape. Through live bandoneon demonstrations, you'll learn to identify distinct tango rhythms, musical phrases, accents, and pauses -from the most straightforward to the more intricate. By listening to selections from classic tango orchestras, you'll start to feel how rhythm informs expression and timing in social dance. Then we will dive into a particularly rich topic: how to stay connected to the rhythm and bandoneon even when the vocals enter the music. This often-overlooked aspect can transform your musical interpretation and elevate your tango experience. Expect live musical examples, movement exercises, and a supportive environment to explore how walking and rhythm come together. Bring your ears, your feet, and your curiosity!
