This SATURDAY, we welcome two wonderful co-hosts from this hip hood—with deep roots: ✨ANASTASSIA & DJ JUAMPI✨ The backdrop of the cover photo is the Serranía de Hornocal, a stunning mountain range in the Argentine province of Jujuy—the home province of our DJ & friend Juan Pablo Canavire (aka Juampi). Argentine tango belongs to the world, but its roots lie in the rich cultural mix and social drama that unfolded in Argentina—from 'gaucho traditions of the Pampas' to the bustling life of Buenos Aires. It’s worth remembering that this global cultural heritage—TANGO—is not only about the big cities at all. It also carries the soul of the landscapes you see here, where folklore was practiced, flourished, and celebrated alongside tango. And that’s exactly what we’re bringing this Saturday: a full-on, folklore-infused, tango-intense, house party! 💥🎶 Just like the last time, there are two parts to the story: Tango House Party—Part 1 🕕 𝟭𝟴.𝟬𝟬-𝟭𝟵.𝟭𝟱 | 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽-𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗔 75 minutes of folklore adventure with ✨Anastassia Runina✨ We will explore the basic steps of zamba and space dynamics inside the dancing couple, the scheme of the dance and the ways to improvise and express our emotions in this pattern. We'll learn to feel the partner both in space and in his or her emotions. The class is suitable for people without any previous dancing experience as well as for dancers to widen their dancing patterns, expression and connection skills. 🧉 To bring: comfortable shoes without heels work nice. Your hosts: Anastassia, Juampi, Giorgio, Camelia & Sujy A B O U T ________________________ 🧉 Argentine zamba "Zamba argentina" is one of the key pieces and certainly the most treasured dance in Argentine folklore music - a slow improvisation dialogue dance of love and adoration, infinitely touching. Traditionally a man invites a chosen woman for a zamba to conquer her favour and affection. In zamba partners communicate with their eyes, a handkerchief (pañuelo) and an ambrase without touching each other. The man is both persistent and gentle. Woman is quiet and full of his presence. They have something to talk about together. Although being a dance of romance, zamba is much broader than that. It can be danced between two friends, between parents and children and just acquaintances. The dancing dialog might be not only about love, but also about joy or pain, excitement or sorrow. Like all the topics two people can talk of. There is a certain basic scheme for zamba, and it is a stem for further improvisation. The connection between partners is held in steps and circular dynamics, in the eye contact, in the embrace. 🧉 About Anastassia: Anastassia has started dancing Argentine folklore in 2014 - she was lucky to be among the students of Emilio Cornejo for many years, as well as to take classes of many other brilliant teachers. She was also among first folklore DJs in Moscow and one of the organizers of peña Buena Onda and Peña в Стакане, giving regular classes of Argentine folklore, supporting other peñas such as Peña Tres Pasos and Peña com Amor. Deeply in love with Argentine folklore music and dance culture.
