We do what we do best when we meet: Hug Dance Nibble Chit-chat Get inspired Plot our next house party There are things to chew and gulp but you are more than welcome to bring whatever you want to share with your friends. “Porteña” (or Porteño for masculine) in Spanish literally means “someone from the port,” and pragmatically refers to the inhabitants of Buenos Aires, Argentina—most of whom historically arrived in the port city by sea. “La porteña” we are about to introduce to you arrived in Stockholm by plane, just in time for Stockholm Pugliese Weekend. She DJ-ed, photographed, danced, watched, and listened. She’s the lady who clapped hard and shouted “¡Bravo!” every time the 12-man Dutch orchestra finished playing a Pugliese song. Because she understands what it means for tango to be a world cultural heritage, she was exhilarated to meet people from all over the world who came together to celebrate the legacy of Osvaldo Pugliese—the national icon of her home country. ”La tanguera porteña”—is ✨Johanna Jezernicki✨ de Buenos Aires, completely drenched in tango in the broadest spectrum you can possibly imagine. She is a dancer who trained with Pebete Godoy, Chino Perico, Angel Coria, Tanguito Cejas, Vanesa Villalba and Facundo Piñero (as part of El Cxuce Dance Company). She is also a photographer, DJ, cinematographer, actress, and clown. It’s a curse and a blessing to be well-versed in everything—but after all, being wide is being deep, depending on how you tilt your head to look at it. This contemporary woman just couldn’t help devoting her life to nerding out on everything tango touched, because she has always seen it as more than just a dance or a genre of music. Then there is ✨Giorgio Regnoli✨ di Calabria. He is my partner-in-crime for Tango House Party and the maestro who taught me the foundations. He made me watch Pepa Palazón’s interview with Toto Faraldo the same week I took my first tango steps. He followed maestros in the lineage of Antonio Todaro, yet gave me blessings to learn from other teachers regardless of "styles". And he let me organize parties in his studio when I (then, a complete beginner) didn’t even know a tango tanda consisted of four songs.
