About this Event
Luigi Coviello, arranger, composer, and double bass player, will showcase the results of ten years of work on the topic of musicality for dancers.
In recent years, Luigi has developed a method using a simple perspective that all dancers can identify with: the difference between a "melodic" section and a "rhythmic" section. Luigi will demonstrate how dancers can recognize and move between these two contrasting elements in music. He will also teach how to use this skill to create a map of a full tango, where the melodic section is represented by a white circle and the rhythmic section by a black circle.
Luigi will guide participants in identifying moments when the music is presented as a "tutti" and when it is accompanied by a secondary line. At the end of the workshop, participants will study a couple of tangos chosen by the dancers to see how the method applies to different tangos milongueros.
The goal is to provide dancers with new insights on how to listen to music and enrich their dance.
