Tango technique for Samba de Gafieira

Join us for this special Tango technique for Samba de Gafieira class with Ariel Yanovsky! We will work on some fundamental Tango techniques from such as weight transfer, walking, frame and hold, sacadas, pivots and connection and will apply these to Samba de Gafieira steps that we know already, many of which incorporate Tango elements and technique. Tango is not only well known to be a very strong technical basis that will improve your dancing no matter which partner dance you do, but also forms the basis of various Samba steps. Whether you are newer to Samba or very experienced, you will benefit from this workshop. *NB* This class will focus on Tango and the crossover of these techniques into Samba de Gafieira, and is aimed at students who already have knowledge of Samba steps- as we will be drilling these and moving on to the next technique. He began his Tango career in 1997. He performs and teaches around Argentina, Europe, South America and the United States and has also participated in TV and cinema projects. Ariel studied Tango with internationally renowned teachers such as: Natalia Games, Gabriel Angió, Carlitos Perez, José "Lampazo" Vázquez, Nancy Louzan, Damián Essel and Horacio Godoy. He has also studied Contemporary, Theatre, Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Samba de gafieira with Jimmy Oliveira. Ariel has a fun and helpful way in which he shares his Tango knowledge and can give unique insight from having learned Samba in Brazil from an experienced Tango dancer’s perspective.
