About this Event
Nicolás Artín (Buenos Aires) and María Laura Iglesias (Montevideo) invite you to participate in a Tango Workshop On May 11th 2018 .
María Laura has been a dancer since she was 5 years old, starting with more than 14 years of training in classical dance and continuing with 11 years in contemporary dance. She discovered new feelings in flamenco, which let to an everlasting tango hug. Since then she has been exclusively dedicated to tango training both banks of the Rio de La Plata. She is currently a teacher in her own school, organizer of milongas and street cultural events at the city of Montevideo with the aim of bringing closer tango to all the people. She made exhibitions several times in her country and also in Buenos Aires.
Nicolás began to dance tango as a recreational activity and from that approach he tries to transmit and spread the tango. He studied with great masters of different generations of tango dance, incorporating their knowledge and developing a personal pedagogy, oriented to the technical development together with the process of enjoyment. He organized milongas in Buenos Aires and traveled spreading his work in different countries of Europe and America.
Nicolás and María Laura met several years ago at an Encuentro in Argentina which attracts occasionally more than 1,000 people. They met many times, dancing, exchanging feelings and ways of seeing tango and teaching, until they meet today in this embrace in Amsterdam.
For both, dancing tango is one of the most free and revolutionary acts of our culture.
The hug as a symbol and circulating with movements makes of this dance a way of life for all the people who dance around the world.
Its improvised nature, makes us live the captivating moment right here and right now without cultural and social prejudices. It is the meeting of two people who live together for three eternal and beautiful minutes, without words, but with a lot of corporal and emotional dialogue.
Tango dancing is the most exciting and real experience of two embraced unknown individuals.
Some of the main topics of their classes are:
* The embrace as the most important element of communication and relationship from tango to life
* Improvisation and play as the main pillar of teaching and enjoying tango
* Musicality as a stimulus to enjoy and provide enjoyment through tango dance.
