About this Event

Turns are one of the most essential and often most challenging elements in tango. We invite you to dive deeply together with fantastic teacher combo from Ukraine - Elena and Sergiy - into different types of turns, exploring the details and “secrets” that allow turns to feel easy, smooth and comfortable, both in the body and in the embrace. The workshops will take place on February 7th and 8th in the afternoon, in studio Itaka. Address: Korunní 35, Praha 2 (tram stop Šumavská). About the teachers: Elena Sergienko and Sergiy Podbolotnyy: Argentine Tango Artists and Teachers Both Elena and Sergiy started dancing nearly 20 years ago. Although they know each other for ages, they began working together professionally in 2017. Together, they continue to evolve, grow and share their passion with students in Europe, Asia and beyond. In 2022, their collaboration was paused due to the war in Ukraine. But in 2025 (just 2 months after Elena broke a leg) they returned to the stage, teaching and performing together again. They performed on stage in Seoul, South Korea and won five awards at the Chengdu Tango Championship in China. In 2025 they also won the Preliminary Qualifier Championship for the Mundial and made it to semifinals of Mundial de Tango, the biggest World Championship in Buenos Aires. However, above all, Elena and Sergiy treasure the human connection at the heart of tango. Whether through performance or teaching, they inspires others to discover the beauty of presence, sensitivity and authentic encounter in every step. Their workshops are carefully structured to guide dancers from foundational techniques to sophisticated movement. Whether working with beginners or advanced dancers, they make tango accessible, meaningful and transformative. Additionally, their teaching is deeply enriched by Elena’s interdisciplinary background. She holds an MA in Psychology and Counseling, is certified in Expressive Arts Therapy, and has cultivated expertise in body mechanics, neurobiology, and Dance/Movement Therapy. This holistic foundation allows both her and Sergiy to guide students toward a deeper connection between body and mind, creating harmony and presence in their dance. We are very much looking forward to seeing you during the workshops and dancing with you. Veronika & Elena & Sergyi
