Applied Technique, not Philosophy Have you seen a great tango couple dancing and just wonder how they do it? They look other-wordly, and compared to you, completely on another league. Have you gone to a really nice restaurant, and there they make a dish that you also make, but their version is so much better? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could have a the head chef of the restaurant you like give you some pointers so you can make your own home made version of the restaurant level dish? Many times the nice restaurants use all the same ingredients you have at your house, and the difference is only in their technique for making the dish. In tango as in life, the advanced knowledge is the basics done very well. In this workshop Mavnir will lead every participant into learning to think and understand tango in a very different way than how it is usually presented in most places. It is unusual that the tango dancer aspirants get to learn to understand the mechanics, rather than repeating the sequences. Very quickly, tango teachers become philosophical in their approach, pointing towards etheric concepts like connection and embrace like its something you can pick up by watching. Tango as an art, cannot be grasped by watching. The internal quality can only be felt in the dynamics of the dance. This workshop will be the Tango equivalent to having a culinary masterclass from a Michelin Star restaurant head chef on how to make an omelet. Great chefs can take the simplest ingredients, the same ones everyone uses, and make something special and unique from it. Everyone can take two eggs, salt and pepper and do something for breakfast, but those same ingredients in the hands of a master yield a very different result. Using the simplest of sequences, participants will learn all the techniques to prepare and cook the two eggs into a masterful restaurant level omelet that will elevate your dancing skills in incredible ways.
