“Tentacles, Flippers & Wings, Oh My!” A CI mini class into jamming offered by Nelson Té In this second class of an anatomy-based series, we’ll focus on our human hands, arms and shoulder girdle, and how they can play important and even surprising roles in Contact Improvisation. CI spaces can invite exploring the broad potential of our upper limbs in ways unusual to most dance forms: you might use hands as feet, or avoid hand contact completely to favor “using your whole body as a hand” … This Thursday, we might play with balance, modulate tone, create or redirect momentum, explore shapes & structural options, and perhaps even generate fruitful randomness and discover novel ways of connecting. Who knows? Depending on the on the mood, we might even try on a favorite score: “The feathery flippers of joy on thousand-knuckled octopus tentacles.” Stuff to make you feel glad you get to hang with fellow primates! ~ Doors open at 6:45pm Class begins promptly at 7:10pm Please arrive early.
