About this Event
West Coast Swing Australia and Audacity Dance Studio have combined forces with the Railway Barracks in Goulburn for a weekend dance event we are calling the Barracks Bash. It starts on Friday evening (arrive from 6pm) the 16th June till Sunday the 18th. We are arranging this as THE value for money event of the year with six fantastic teachers, two nights’ accommodation, six WCS workshops over two days, two continental style breakfasts, sausage sizzle for lunch, tea, coffee, two course dinner Saturday evening, twelve hours of social dancing Friday and Saturday night and on Sunday.
And we will do this for you for $199! Ticket sales open now.
THE FINER DETAILS:
Goulburn is two hours down the Hume Highway from Sydney and one hour from Canberra. All levels of WCS dancer are welcome. The only rule – mix, mingle, enjoy, dance. There will be plenty of camaraderie and six experienced WCS teachers in Nathan Toussaint, Deanna Rolfe, Charles Gil (t.b.c.), Leanne Landels, Karolina Latkoska and Mark Farrell.
How can we manage to provide you with over $200 worth of workshops, two nights’ bed and breakfast ($140), plus sausage sizzle and two course Thai dinner ($35) for such a low price? Because we love WCS and want our students to mingle and socialise and not break the bank. You will be rostered to do about an hour’s work as part of your contribution to our little weekend community. This is truly exciting! The venue is a brand new dance and accommodation venue and we are one of the first groups to stay there.
This is a limited numbers event. Accommodation is barracks style – 7 rooms with four bunk beds and 4 twin rooms for attendees, and shared (but private) Male and Female community bathrooms. So we are after 18 leaders and 18 Follows to join our six teachers and cook. Each bunk has reading light and power. There will be at least one girls only room and one boys only room. Couples will be given first preference for the twin rooms. All the bed linen (doonas and pillows) are brand new. The venue is heated and has a fantastic dance floor plus a break out area.
If you want to be in a room with friends, you can let us know your preferences when you order. In fact, the smart thing is to line up your room mates and book and pay for two or four tickets and guarantee your room.
The owners have recently installed a railway carriage from the very famous Southern Aurora and it will eventually sleep 20 people. You will soon be able to step from the dance floor, onto the railway platform and get on-board the train. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Aurora
If you have special dietary requirements, we suggest you byo food and drinks. We will ask the Thai restaurant to cater for some meals as gluten free, vegetarian etc. but that won’t be possible for breakfasts or the sausage sizzle.
