About this Event
The Big Apple is a solo jazz routine, widely performed by Lindy Hoppers all around the world. The most popular version referenced was choreographed by Frankie Manning and captured in the film called "Keep Punchin" which can be seen on YouTube. Lindy Hoppers and Jazz Dancers have long studied and taught this routine as a foundation for essential and authentic Jazz Dance steps. Evita will teach the entire routine at an energetic and strong pace starting at 11:30am till 3:30pm. The goal is to achieve a complete experience of the full choreography danced to the modern recording of the Big Apple contest by the Eyal Vilner Big Band. This is extremely special to Evita because it will be the same version as performed in the Lindy Hop show SW!NG OUT, of which Evita co-created. This workshop should be considered quite ADVANCED catering to the very dedicated, experienced dancers in the community who have a longing to work on their solo Jazz skills and learn the FULL Big Apple Routine.
Participants for the Big Apple workshop should bring their own water bottle and snacks. There will be a mid break and several water breaks. Comfortable shoes, perhaps even sneakers, may be best for this material as well as athletic clothing to sweat in. The level of this workshop will be fast and intense covering a significant amount of material. It is the ideal challenge for Swing dancers in the Sydney scene who want to strengthen their solo dance skills and of course learn the complete Big Apple Routine!
