About this Event
The Blue Mermaid Dance
Please join us for a very special evening aboard a very special ship!
The Blue Mermaid is a replica of a famous Thames Barge of the same name built in 1930 but lost to a mine in World War Two. She was constructed between 2015 and 2019 and belongs to the charity Sea Change Sailing Trust which provides action-centred learning and seamanship training for young people and vulnerable adults.
The Blue Mermaid is visiting Sandwich for a week or so in August and as part of the festivities we will be organising a one-off swing dance on Tuesday 18th!
7pm-9.30pm
Music: 1930s, 40s and early 50’s. A great mix of big band swing, boogie woogie, jump jive, early rhythm’n’blues, gypsy jazz, western swing, hillbilly, latin and calypso.
