The Bootleggers Ball: Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers

Join us for a night of swing dancing at the Community Music Center in the Mission district. Wear your snazziest clothes (or just whatever makes you feel rad) and feel free to bring your favorite booze—we’ll have a cocktail station set up with bar tools and mixers so you can dress up your spirits too. 8:30–9p / beginner lesson (included with ticket) 9-midnight / social dance to live music $16 online, $20 at the door, BYO Keenan McKenzie plays reeds at dance events across the country, frequently appearing with the Rhythm Serenaders, The Mint Julep Jazz Band, and The Lindy Focus All-Star Orchestra, led by Jonathan Stout. He also is a busy composer/transcriber, having reconstructed many of the Chick Webb and Jimmie Lunceford charts for the Heritage Sounds campaigns. Based in Durham, North Carolina, Keenan maintains a full roster of private students and teaches saxophone at NC State University. In December, he released his first album of original dance music, entitled Forged in Rhythm.
