We are honored to have Alison & Ryan, of Cosmal, back this year for another ecstatic dance! This one is super special because they were the first act for the first ever Rooted Dance ecstatic dance last summer! We are truly honored to have these magical beings back at Lincoln Woods. We decided to make it a whole Cosmal experience, featuring a mugwort ceremony & live sound healing with Ryan, guided movement with Alison, followed by their live performance ecstatic dance to finish off our time together. Come get a taste of what Cosmal is all about, with roots in Celtic tradition, they aim to honor their ancestors by creating intimate spaces to share the music and herbs that have been used for thousands of years. Please reach out.* MUGWORT CEREMONY Steeped in Irish Celtic tradition, this ceremony ignites the astral body, preparing you for interdimensional travel through your dreams and beyond. Combining ancient mystical practices with the modern technology of binaural beats, we aim to revitalize a part of humanity that has been deeply forgotten in today's society. Since the spiral is such an important symbol in Celtic and Irish tradition, the ceremony will take place in a circle. After an introduction and a prayer to the land and the spirits of the plant, we will pass materials around the circle to make some intentional objects, working with the mugwort, and getting to know her energy. Then we will pass around a strong mugwort brew to ignite the astral body and provide a direct line to the divine feminine. Once all have finished their tea, we will embark on a powerful binaural sound journey, providing a gateway experience in connecting with the astral planes. Binaural Beats use modern sound technology, combining different frequencies to create a pulsation that aids in entering different brainwave states for a multitude of different purposes. At the end, attendees will be invited to share about their experience. Come with an open heart, and leave with the tools you need to explore the astral planes at your own pace. WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE? Ecstatic dance is a form of movement expression that is done in a group setting with intention of connecting to the body and relaxing the mind. There is evidence of ecstatic dance practices going back to the beginning of mankind, but has now popularized in Western culture since the early 2000's. This activity is done barefoot and there is no talking or cellphone use during the ecstatic dance portion to ensure connection with the Earth and the music. Feel free to dance, sit, stretch, observe, or just hang out and enjoy the music! This is a judgement free zone and we aim to provide spaces where you are able to experience energy in motion within, without fear or holding back. MEET COSMAL Cosmal is a 100% LIVE music/art fusion duo based in the Hudson Valley, NY featuring the recording and layering of different instruments and vocals in real time, while a live completed painting captures the unique imprint of each performance. Members, Ryan and Alison combine their Celtic and Middle Eastern ancestral lineages with a modern Jazz and Electronic sensibility to create a fully immersive, globally infused experience. Bringing ceremony to the stage, Cosmal aims to honor and invoke the spirit of the divine, and hold space for transmuting trauma and fear, while celebrating the dance between the feminine and masculine energies of the universe. This specific event will be ran 100% off rechargeable equipment! MEET YOUR HOST Mae Boyington has been bringing unique and mindful events to CT and RI. Mae hosts ecstatic dances that feature guided yoga, sound healing and cacao ceremonies, also aerial and shibari focused EDM events. With back grounds in dance, yoga and meditation, Mae has been juggling, flowing with poi, hula hoop, dragon staff, levitation wand, and silk fans. With any of their events the goal is to bring together dance, music and community to create a space to let go and explore. Movement and community can be incredibly healing and creating spaces where that is encouraged is so important, yet can be hard to come by. Finding places where you can socialize and explore your own body in a safe judgement-free environment can be difficult and sometimes costly.
