It is a space to deepen embodied presence and relationship with greater forces, and sense what is possible from there, together. To listen and explore direct knowing of the body in relation to ground, space, sky and each other. Each day we share 2.5 hours of class followed by 1.5 hours of moving ritual; a non-dogmatic space and time where we focus attention with intention in the frames of jam, contemplative dance practice, authentic movement and space for integration. Along with physical and embodied practice, the space welcomes contemplation and sharing. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced dancers. Please note that full commitment and punctual attendance is required. Registration is necessary and spaces are limited to 14, contact Julie in case of questions and/or for registration. It will be a joy moving with you! _____________________________________ ๐€๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐€๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐š๐ง๐๐ซ๐จ ๐‘๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐จ It is already 20 years that I have worked with this thing of writing a Bioโ€ฆ I think the most significant ones were those who made clear that it is not about myself, exactly. I keep asking and forgetting. What should I say there? That I wish to be human enough to be able to listen to others? That I am interested in the lifts of the corners of the mouth? That I dance and teach, and I am danced and I serve as a vessel, that I trust in something that could be called the Big Mystery? Orโ€ฆ That I have experienced enough to start with not-knowing with certain quality? That I had wonderful teachers and colleagues with whom I learnt? And that I devote my life to teaching and dancing? That I have awards and nominations, a master's degree, that I have taught in more than 30 countries for hundreds of people? That I have studied a bit of: BMC, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Antigimnastics, Craniosacral Osteopathy, modern dance, contemporary dance, choreography, performance studies, sitespecific, Authentic Movement, zen Buddhism, ancient technologies of the sacred; and a lot of Contact Improvisation? That the most significant experiences in life I just cannot write here? Orโ€ฆ That I believe in something called friendship? That I don't have kids, so I know nothing about life yet? That I am as passionate now as I was when I first got in touch with dance in this life? That I still write but I listen to what is beyond, before, and behind words? Or evenโ€ฆ That I really hope that through this illusion of you and I being separated, we can drop it and go beyond our hanging names to explore the in-between field of existence to dance and be danced with and through the visible and invisible forces entangled at each single moment and find the way to be at the arch of beauty? Or instead, maybe I could simplify and say: "The dance is the teacher, the teacher points to that"? (Steve Paxton) My name is Alessandro Rivellino. To recognize myself as this name would be too limiting or not enough. I will be in the role of teaching, so I know that I have a response-ability to share and hold space for others to learn. I believe in what I do, which means that I do something inspired by something else with no name for it. You are welcome, as you are, with whatever is happening in what you could call yourself, today. That said, I will go for what I mean (making mine the words of a master of words): "Listen to me. Listen to my silence. What I never say is the thing that I do say and also another thing. Grasp that other thing which I really said, because I myself cannot." (Clarice Lispector) ๐€๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐ž ๐€๐ ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ Julie is a multidisciplinary artist engaging with somatic and contemplative practices as a research of presence, awareness and relationship with inner-outer nature. She is deeply inspired by the natural world, silence and space, and finds in dance improvisation a space for self inquiry, research of life, and embodied conversation with hidden forces. She has studied contact improvisation and other somatic and meditative practices throughout the world, and since four years is based in Thailand, continuing and sharing her practice and research. Besides movement, she works with clay, textile and design. Through all of her work, crafting objects and spaces, she is interested to encourage relationship with body, earth, space and a deeper self.
