About this Event
Sunday Nov 16 | 11am–4:30pm | Point Reyes
Morning CI jam at the Dance Palace, Point Reyes Station
Afternoon session at nearby Point Reyes National Seashore
Join us at Point Reyes National Seashore for the third in a series of daylong eco-somatic movement retreats. We’ll spend the day moving both indoors and outdoors—beginning in the dance studio and then extending into the wild beauty of the park—exploring embodiment practices and movement improvisation in relationship with the natural world.
For this last session in the series, we'll join the wonderful West Marin Contact Improvisation Jam in the morning. Rosemary Hannon will lead us in a warmup that moves into jamming from 11-1:30 at the Dance Palace.
After lunch, we’ll move to a nearby site in the national park, where our practice expands into dialogue with the land. In somatic movement, we explore the felt body through our inner and outer senses—locating ourselves in gravity, through touch, in proprioception, and more. In eco-somatic practice, we extend this inquiry: How do we orient in relation to the natural world? To the four directions, to the plants and creatures around us, to the deep history of the land and the people who lived here for thousands of years before us?
Through movement, attention, and deep listening, we open ourselves to a more embodied and nourishing relationship with place. We invite you to join us in this day of practice, reflection, and renewal in the living landscape of Point Reyes.
Space is limited, early registration is advised.
Sliding scale: $20 - $50, pay what you can. (Please note: this donation only covers the afternoon session: donations for the jam are separate.)
