The Swingrave All-Dayer with TJ & David

TJ Johnson makes his debut at Swingrave and David Zilkha returns after 5 long years! Don't miss this - it's going to be another cracker! David runs the Swing Dance scene in Bristol and notably the renowned Bristol Dance Camp over New Year - simply one of the best events on the swing calendar. David has routes in contemporary dance and, with many years of experience, is an excellent teacher - not to be missed. TJ Johnson is widely considered one of the UK's finest jazz and blues singers and pianist. A maestro of swaggering swing with his songs of life and love. Here is a breakdown of the day: 11am-1.15pm Switching Workshop with David and Sandy - for confident dancers but no need to have experience of the 'opposite role'. Great for building technique in all aspects of social dance. 1.15-2pm BYO picnic lunch. 2-4.15pm Social Stealing with David for 'all comers at all levels': Great confidence building and social practice. There will be a freshly prepared buffet at 4.15pm for all those attending one or both workshops. It's great for adding variety to the dance, but also teaches greater sensitivity and skill in your usual dance role. Level: You need to be an experienced and confident Lindy Hop dancer in your usual role. It's fine if you've never danced the other role before. STEALING: Learn how to seamlessly cut in and 'steal' someone's dance partner while continuing the flow of the dance. This is an entertaining and playful workshop which shows you how to apply simple techniques for perfect stealing, and is also perfect for how to join in on birthday jams. Level: This workshop is suitable for anyone from beginner to advanced, as long as you're able to social dance a whole song with a few basic moves.
