The WCS Retreat 2020

The WCS Retreat is all about education. Are you a motivated -dancer- wanting to increase your knowledge of our art across the board? Do you like hard work, and intense sessions, and cramming your brain so full it pops? This is the experience for you then. 12 hours over 3(ish) days, where everyone does everything (attendance in the Retreat means you'll do both the lead and follow role, because regardless if you ever actually do the opposite role, you should understand what you're inflicting on someone else), including instructor guided Practica! Also no, don't feel like you need to be very knowledgeable of the non-dominant role to excel here. We do provide a crash course for both roles, and we only recommend that you have a solid working grasp of your basics in one role. We're going to try something a bit new this year. We're going to focus the content a little bit more, and emphasize the -practice- portion, guided by your instructors! WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Your Staff: Hugo Miguez, Stacy Kay, John Kirkconnell, Sonya Dessureault, Stephen White. Travel: You'd fly into TPA, which is the closest airport to clearwater. It's a 20 minute uber, or we might have some locals who'd be willing to give you a ride! Lodging: There's both a Tampa Bay Extended Stay, and a Extended Stay America nearby that offer reasonable rates on full suite w/ kitchen hotel rooms. There's also a few nice Air BNBs and other more traditional hotels nearby. Everything is an easy uber, some are walkable (not exactly short though), AND we'll be helping to arrange rides for out of towners through the event. :) Food: There's a - ton- of around. Plenty of options for everyone. Venue: Our venue is the majestic District Dance Academy. 11000 square foot of dance spaced owned by our very own Hugo and Stacy. Schedule: COMING SOON. I recommend coming in early on Friday, and leaving Monday morning, as we'll typically have a Friday pre-event, and a Sunday Shenanigans! There WILL be social dancing on the Friday and Saturday nights as well. Admission: Early Bird Admission price has been REDUCED! Because we have a larger space, we're dropping the price to $160.
