About this Event
We are kicking off the #ThinkingDancer initiative on Saturday 4th February 2017 with the wonderful Stefani Ruper. In this two-hour session, you will get a glimpse into the way Stefani views Salsa, dancing and get some ideas for evolving yourself.
Stefani will discuss, by and large, the theories of partner work and connection she has developed through participating in several different types of dance. Some main takeaways she will cover is:
1) The fundamental “power steering” method of making your connection feel “smooth” or “good,”
2) The physics that teaches you how to lead – and especially follow – just about anything
3) How to develop responsiveness and sensitivity. Naturally, underlying these ideas are techniques particular to every dance (and some particular to all dances), which will also be on the table for discussion.
Stefani will also be able to tell you which dances are probably best to pick up for “cross training” depending on the particular skill set you are looking to develop.
Stefani's dance training began 25 years ago with classical ballet, and she has since also acquired and taught jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop. In 2011, Stefani had a gig as a go-go dancer in Taiwan before she returned home to the states and discovered partner dancing. Since then she has social danced nearly every night, splitting her time between salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, and west coast swing. She is the author of the 'Perfect Follow' blog and has made it her mission to be the most versatile, technical, responsive, and connected partner possible.
#ThinkingDancer sessions will be helped at The Office Studio, 17-19 Bonny St, Camden, NW1 9PE.
Each session will cost £10.
