MAMBO MONDAYS!!!
Intermediate Mambo Class
~Combo class footwork and partner work~
Dando Mambo Dance Company will be teaching a 4 week course on the stylish, modern NY Style Mambo, focusing on a variety of patterns with double turns and prepping techniques. Prepping techniques allow for the lead to indicate how many turns he will lead for the follow, and allows the follower to know how to position her feet maintaining proper form throughout the turns. Classes will also focus on teaching the social and musical aspects of Salsa. Students will have the opportunity to learn about timing and musicality and transferring these to body movements.
In this class you will learn how to dance the most popular Latin rhythm on beat 2. If you came last month, you learned how to dance on beat 1. Now you have to learn to dance on 2! If you didn't come last month it doesn't matter. We are going to do different steps to a different beat! It's a class you can't miss!
Cost for all classes: $15/class, or
$40/four classes ( paid in FULL ahead of classes only! )

What is a Combo Class?
A COMBO CLASS is a class format that incorporates both SHINES (footwork) as well as PARTNERING into the session so that the student can first focus on learning the rhythm and solo aspect of the dance before moving on to leading and following.
Our classes begin with a 15 - 20 minute calentamiento, or warm-up, that teach aspects of the footwork required for the upcoming partner sequence but does so in a way that allows the student to focus on body movement, rhythm, and the basics of the dance.
After the calentamiento, the class transitions into the partner work portion, where the students learn how to apply the footwork and timing to the lead and follow technique.
These classes are designed to move at a pace appropriate to the class level, while providing a dynamic, healthy challenge to the dancers. The format of the class is set up in such a manner that provides students the chance to ask questions and receive individualized instruction in a group setting.
Cost for all classes: $12/class, or
$40/four classes ( paid in FULL ahead of classes only! )

WHAT IS BACHATA?
Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the countryside and the rural neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. Its subjects are often romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak and sadness. In fact, the original term used to name the genre was amargue ("bitterness," or "bitter music"), until the rather ambiguous (and mood-neutral) term bachata became popular. The form of dance, Bachata, also developed with the music.
Bachata is a four-step beat achieved with a walking Cuban hip motion, and a unique “pop”. The dance is performed both in open position and in closed position depending on the setting and mood of the partners. The male leads the female with subtle communication using pushing and pulling on the hands to guide the direction in which to move or to hint on upcoming turns. The female may also provide communication using her left hand to indicate whether she is comfortable or not dancing in a closed position.
