Please join us on the 14th of July as we bring down a group that we haven't featured in quite a long time: 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬! Three Swings And A Miss are a vintage style jazz band that performs all of our favorite hits as well as their own original music. While they are known for many styles of performance such as the golden jazz era of the 1930s or Hollywood glamour, what makes this band especially exciting is that they are also a cultural swing band! Meaning; all their band members have the knowledge & experience to perform specifically for swing dance events. See you all on the dance floor! 〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓 💲 ADMISSION: Public: $20 Members: $15 Annual Membership: $40 Students: $7 (MUST SHOW STUDENT ID) 〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓 🕺 July Dance Classes East Coast 1 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Torrey & Emma 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: This 6-count dance is where it all starts! This class is available every Monday night. East Coast 1 is perfect if you are new to swing dancing and want to begin your dance journey. This class will cover the main fundamentals of swing dancing such as basic posture, pulsing, weight transferring & core engagement. Lindyhop 1 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Nick & Ale 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Once you have a firm understanding of the basics, begin to learn this more advanced 8-count dance and the famous swing-out! Lindy can be danced to slow or fast music, often blending several styling including 6-count and Charleston. Lindyhop 6 count 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫: Andrea & Gilbert 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: This is a more advanced class from beginners, once you have a firm grasp of the basics class and feel confident with the triple step. Progress your knowledge with additional flourishes on your 6-count moves. DANCE LESSON Q&As: Q. 1: How do I know I am ready for a more advanced lesson? A. 1: If you feel completely confident in the fundamentals of any beginner course whether it be Eastcoast 1, Charleston 1, Shag 1 or Lindy 1, then you are certainly ready for the next level. Q. 2: Is there a way I can get a personal evaluation? A. 2: Yes. Our instructors are always available to provide a free evaluation during our Monday Night events. They can certainly help you figure our where your level is at & which lessons would benefit you the most. Q.3: How long does it take to get to get progress as a dancer? A. 3: Your level of progression is determined by the amount of time & effort you put in to individual practice, education & courses you take. Every one has a different learning curb, but the one thing that all of our advanced instructors have in common is that they never stopped dancing. Every instructor that teaches for Alamo City Swing Revival or San Antonio Swing Dance Society or at Swing Junction, have been through it all; private lessons, big swing dance events, personal evaluations, lessons taught by celebrity/professional swing dancers, traveling to dance, and educating themselves with videos & countless hours of feedback & practice. FINAL NOTE: It takes a great deal of commitment & practice to learn the curriculum taught by our instructors. It takes an even bigger amount of commitment & practice to retain it, which is why our instructors are huge advocates of individual evaluations & private dance lessons. If you are struggling with progression in your dance, please reach out to any of our instructors and they will be more than happy to work with you one on one. ​〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓〓 🎷LIVE MUSIC & SOCIAL DANCE: 8pm-10pm 🧭 LOCATION: The San Antonio Fire Fighter's Banquet Hall is located on the access road of West I-10 right next to the ramp that leads down from Medical Drive on the right side. 🚗 PARKING: The SAFFBH parking can fit up to 100 vehicles. The parking lot is directly outside of the building on the left side. There is also additional parking on the right side. 🍺 𝐁.𝐘.𝐎.𝐁. We have been given permission from the SA Firefighters Association to allow our guests to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Water bottles & sodas will remain for sale. NOTE: We have the right to deny entry or to escort guests out of the premises if we feel they are above the legal intoxication limit, are disturbing the peace, or are attempting to serve alcohol to minors. Keep in mind that this is still an all-ages event and while we are allowing adults to bring their own beverages we must remind everyone to be responsible and follow the law.
